My riding history & bikes
I taught myself how to ride on a 1982 Suzuki GN 125, which I bought in May of 1992 for less then $300. I have always loved motorcycles. But unfortunately at that time I was finishing up college and I couldn't afford motorcycling, so the following Spring I got rid of the bike. Many years had passed but I never forgot about the fun times I had on my bike.In July of 1999 I bought my first new bike, a left over 1998 Suzuki GS 500.
In February of 2000 I fell in love with an orange and black F4 at the motorcycle show. A month later I traded in my GS 500 with 3,000 miles on the odometer for a brand new Honda CBR 600 F4. I stared touring on the F4 towards the end of 2001 and the more trips I did the more I wanted to do.
In 2002 I found myself wanting a new bike, the new F4i caught my eye and in March I picked it up the same day I sold my F4 with 13,000 miles on the odometer. I kept the F4i for a few years. I really enjoyed that bike. I toured on it and did 5 track days. I sold it in August of 2005 with 32,000 miles on the odometer.
But while I was enjoying the F4i, in August of 2003 I picked up another bike. I found a sweet deal on a brand new left over 2002 Honda CBR 954RR that I could not pass up.
In 2003 I modified the 954RR for touring and this bike became my sport-tourer, after that I only used the F4i for day rides.
In 2005 I realized that I wasn't riding the F4i all that much, I was always riding the 954RR and when I rode the F4i, I was wishing that I could ride the 954RR. It was time to get rid the F4i and replace it with a bike that I could use. The 954RR is a comfortable bike and has all the stuff that you need for touring, but that bike could not handle the amounts of luggage that one might want to bring on a long ride, so I wanted to get a sport-touring bike and in September of 2005 I picked up a brand new 2005 Ducati ST3, my 954RR already had 29,000 miles at the time. Now I tour on the ST3, and I use the 954RR for day rides and weekend tours.
Wild about travel
By the time I was 13 years old I have lived in Europe, North America and South America. You would think as an adult the last thing that I would want would be to travel. But I have always loved traveling, especially road trips. I did my first car road trip at the age of 18, I drove west and came back home a month later, seeing everything on the way, driving the back roads and taking hundreds of pictures along the way. I did many more after that.
I still do that, just now I travel mostly on two-wheels. My goal is to visit every state on my motorcycle, once that's done I'd like to ride around the world. The map below shows my progress.

About excessivelocity.com
In January of 2004 I started this website so I could have a place
to post my photographs and ride reports. Two years later I'm still adding to this beat, and it's grown bigger and bigger. But updating a website is a lot of work, so this website will now be used for the big trips, smaller rides and other motorcycle related stuff will end up in my blog. Thanks for stopping by
